Fall in Anchorage

Hello Blue Sky!
Fall is without a doubt my favorite season.  Unfortunately it always seems to be the shortest season as well.  Something about the bright autumn colors and crisp air never fails to lighten my mood, especially if there is blue sky to go with it.  We've been lucky in Anchorage to have quite a few sunny days lately.

Apparently there is a saying in the rest of Alaska that goes "The best thing about Anchorage is that it is so close to Alaska."  Anchorage is definitely seen as a "big city" and having the attitude that goes along with that.  To give a little reference, I read an article in the newspaper that said Anchorage was of a similar size to Boulder, CO.  While Boulder is definitely a decent sized city, having grown up so close to cities like Philly, DC, and New York, I never thought of it as a big city!

From what I've seen so far, I'd agree though that Anchorage seems to have a bit of a different vibe to it from most other parts of Alaska.  I'm looking forward to getting to see and spend time in other parts of the state, but for now, I'm enjoying getting to know Anchorage better.  And the fall weather is definitely helping with that.

Why haven't I seen a moose here yet?
Around once a year I decide that I should try to be a runner.  It never lasts too long, but for a little while at least I get out there and jog (you can't really call what I do running).  Mostly I have been sticking to the apartment complex's treadmill, but when Anchorage gives you a sunny warm day in September, you have to get out there.  I've gone jogging on a trail a couple times that is of a manageable distance and terrain.  The best thing is that this trail is located right in the city, but you definitely feel like you've made it into the wilderness when you're there.

I have seen a couple huge bull moose while driving back from there, though not yet while on the trail.  Which is probably a good thing, though I think if I did see one, I might improve my time a little bit!

Or here?

Nice trail for a jog
